I'm a physiotherapist and sports scientist graduated from the Alfonso X el Sabio University in Madrid and now practicing around the Marbella area on the Costa del Sol. After extensive studies I have obtained a master in sports physiotherapy and specialise in injury rehab and injury prevention. As a physiotherapist, I currently do freelance work for the Spanish National Swimming Federation (Rfen) and the Spanish Olympic Committee (C.O.E.). In terms of sports sciences, I specialise in high performance athletes from strength sports and aquatics besides general personal training to increase health and quality of life.

It has been scientifically researched that most injuries in sports can be prevented by teaching correct movement patterns, correcting biomechanics and preparing the body for the unexpected. In terms of general health, a study conducted by the GBD in 2019 concluded that 31,1% of the world population is inactive and in recent years more and more healthcare professional have indicated this modifyable factor as a morbi-mortality risk factor. Your body is made for moving, so move it! Together with the patient I strive to create new healthy habits that can be easily maintained in time and increase general quality of life. I promise, exercise can be fun too!

On a personal note, I was born in The Netherlands and have been living in Spain on the Costa del Sol for over 15 years. I therefore speak fluent English, Dutch and Spanish. In my free time, I'm an avid competitive CrossFitter and endurance athlete. In terms of education, a more detailed summary can be found below.

  • Bsc (Bachelor of science - pre-medical) at University College Roosevelt (Middelburg, The Netherlands) graduated with honours

At the end of my medical bachelor education, I conducted and independent research project and internship at the Sint Antonius hospital in Nieuwegein, researching the effect of bioprosthetic heart valves on the development of systemic inflammatory response syndrome

  • Gsc (Physiotherapist graduate) at University Alfonso X el sabio (Madrid, Spain)

  • Gsc (Sports scientist graduate) at University Alfonso X el sabio (Madrid, Spain)

After obtaining my bachelor degree, I moved back to Spain in order to study a double degree in physiotherapy and sports sciences during the next 6 years, during which I specialised in high performance athletes on both fronts

  • Msc (Master in sports physioteraphy) at University Alfonso X el sabio (Madrid, Spain)

During my sixth and final year of studying the double degree in physiotheraphy and sports science, I decided to specialise further in sports physiotheraphy by completing an official master degree. After completing my master degree I completed an extensive internship at the high performance center (CAR) in Madrid, working with professional swimmers as a physiotherapist and strength coach
